Antarctica is an ecological wonder that mesmerizes explorers, scientists and travelers. On our aircraft you will fly over the Magellan Strait, Tierra del Fuego Island, Darwin Mountain Range, the mythical Cape Horn and the raft Drake Passage. Finally arriving at King George Island, gateway to the white continent, where most of the antarctic scientific bases are located. Here you can also find the Chilean village "Villa Las Estrellas", place where several Chilean families live all year round.
You will visit the impressive landscapes of the white continent, see part of its wildlife and experience the daily life of men populating this territory in the name of science and investigation.
At your arrival to Pta. Arenas we will be provide the transfer from the airport to the hotel with 04 nights of accommodations included in the package, based in single or double room, at Cabo de Hornos hotel or similar with half board included per person. This apply for the Full day and Overnight program.
At the hotel reception you will receive an envelope with all the information about the briefing and an address of our office. In this briefing you will have the chance to share with the other participants of this program and you will enjoy a welcome cocktail specially prepared for the group.
The arrival in Pta. Arenas ,the day before of the trip, must be not later than 5 pm in order to be part of the briefing. Passengers without the briefing will not be allowed to fly.
- A transfer will pick you up from hotel to Punta Arenas airport to board the plane with destination to King George Island (Antarctica).
At your arrival you will be welcomed by our antarctic-expert tour guides who will take you on a tour visiting different areas of the island like Villa Las Estrellas (first settlement inhabited by civilians), Orthodox Russian Church (At Bellingshausen Station), navigation on a zodiac boat to Ardley Island to visit some penguin colonies (Gentoo, Chinstrap and Adelie) and navigation around Collins glacier. The return to Punta Arenas will be after a 5-hours tour (weather permitting) and at your arrival the transfer will take you back to the hotel.
After the activities of the Full day, passengers will be taken to the Ice Camp based on Collins glacier, located about 5 kms (6 miles) from the runway, where you will stay overnight. This ice camp includes a thermic tent (module) as a dining room for the whole group, one special tent as a basic expedition toilette and three different small thermic and special tents (small modules) for two people each one, to spend the night. Next day you will have a walk to the "Elefanteras" (sea elephant colony) located in the Drake Passage Area, a visit to the Chinese station “Great Wall”. It is also possible to visit other tourist attractions, depending on the weather conditions, before returning to Punta Arenas.
The whole program (Full day and Overnight) including visits, walks and navigations is subject to weather conditions and may change the order of the tour/activities and the total hours of stay.
Please refrain from touching or handling the fauna and flora, as it is important to preserve the native surroundings. The protection of the environment is a legacy to our future generations.
Note 1: At the moment you book the program, you must fill our Adventure Booking Form, which is OBLIGATORY.
Note 2: All the meals and beverages are included during the development of the program. It is responsibility of each person to indicate in the Adventure Booking Form if they have some meal restriction or special requirement.
Note 3: We will provide you of a special jacket and a pair of waterproof boots for the tour. These ones must be return back to us after the tour.
Insurance: VAE declares that our insurance of civil liability covers all passengers against risks while they are on the airplane and when boarding or disembarking via the stairs. Therefore, all passengers must have the necessary insurance to cover civil liability derived from any injuries or illnesses that they may sustain while being outside the plane. Likewise, the operator must demand passengers to have a rescue insurance that covers a potential evacuation from Antarctica by air. The parties involved consider an essential subject that all passengers have the insurance mentioned above.
We remark that our Company do not sell or provide any personal insurance, passengers must take it by themselves.
